HOW YOU CAN HELP!

WHAT DOES UCHA DO?

UCHA is an active organization made up of members or friends of the University Congregational United Church of Christ. Our members work to help build a bridge between homelessness and stable housing in a way that is respectful of the folks we serve, recognizes their multiple needs and our common humanity.

HOW CAN I BE INVOLVED?

There are abundant opportunities - both short and long term, planning and hands on. Contribute skills you have or develop new ones. Members meet on the second Monday of every month in the church. New members are always welcome. You can get involved as time or interest allows!

PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

UCHA owns two apartment buildings and two houses. It also manages a house owned by the church. For each of our properties we have a member who is UCHA’s liaison with the professional managers of the apartment buildings or the agencies who lease our homes. There are opportunities for people interested in helping to manage/coordinate maintenance, repairs, and improvements and for those interested in assisting with financial management and review.

COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLICITY

Are you interested in design and coordination of graphic materials? UCHA has brochures, invitations, and a place on the church Red Wall that could use your creativity. If you like to write, we could use your help with articles for church members through Church and Home and the weekly email and with outreach for others, including a newsletter.

FUNDRAISING AND EVENT PLANNING

Plan and organize fundraising events, current ones and new ones. Research foundations and write grant requests to support projects. Outreach to new donor audiences.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

Bring your skills in project management, real estate transactions, public funding, affordable housing, service contracting, law, construction to help in the development of new projects and the ongoing work of standing projects.
